Cake:
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Frosting:
6 tablespoons butter
3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
2 2/3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a 13x9 pan with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a medium bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.
Add the medium bowl to the large bowl and mix well.
Stir in the boiling water.
Pour evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely.
Cream butter until light and fluffy.
Combine the cocoa and confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl.
Combine the milk and vanilla in a measuring cup.
About a third at a time, stir in the contents of the bowl and cup alternately.
Using an electric mixer, beat to a spreadable consistency.
Frost the cake.
